Introduction

I’m one of those readers who will read pretty much any genre. However, having said this, i do go on binges of certain genres quite often. For example i won’t touch a crime thriller novel for like five months and then i’ll read twelve in two weeks. This fall i’ve found myself binging thrillers, but not just any kind, YA thrillers to be exact. I’ve never really read the genre before, but i’ve become obsessed ever since rewatching 13 reasons why in preparation for season 4. (I still haven’t found the mental steel to binge that yet… i mean everyone i know who has watched has been reduced to tears so i’m putting it off…) Anyway, i’ve become a bit obsessed lately with the high school kids caught up in a brutal murder type scene, so i wanted to share some incredible reads i binged with you!

Here are four authors that are guaranteed to keep you up late at night with their YA thriller masterpieces!

Natasha Preston

Bio: Natasha Preston is the New York Times bestselling author of The Cellar. A UK native, she discovered her love of writing when she shared a story online--and hasn't looked back. She enjoys writing romance, thrillers, gritty YA, and the occasional serial killer.

My Thoughts

I LOVE Natasha Preston. I first started reading her after we became friends on facebook and her novel Reliving Fate not only kept me up all night, but left me heartbroken as well (*Sniffles*). I have loved The Cellar, The Cabin (Which i listened to on audio and the narration was fabulous), and The Lost but my ultimate favourite has to be You will be mine which kept me guessing until the very last page. Click on any of the covers above to start your heart pounding journey into Natasha Preston’s thriller worlds of mystery and deception, you won’t be dissapointed!

She’s referred to by reviewers as the Queen of YA Thrillers, and in my opinion it definitely isn’t hard to see why!

Holly Jackson

Bio: Holly Jackson started writing stories from a young age, completing her first (poor) attempt at a novel aged fifteen. She graduated from the University of Nottingham with an MA in English, where she studied literary linguistics and creative writing. She lives in London and aside from reading and writing, she enjoys playing video games and watching true crime documentaries so she can pretend to be a detective.

'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' is her first novel. You can follow Holly on Twitter and Instagram @HoJay92

My Thoughts:

I read through A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder with all the voracity of a dog with a bone. I couldn’t put it down, and i certainly couldn’t guess the ending either! I loved the use of mixed media and how PIp’s character reminds me of myself as a teenager. I love her tenacious drive and it made what could have been an unbelievable concept for me (A school girl solving a 5 year old cold case) come to life in a fully believable way. I am currently three quarters of the way done with Good Girl, Bad Blood and i can tell you that unlike many sequels this story has me just as invested as the first. If you love tenacious female leads, twisty mysteries, and cute banter, this author is definitely on to add to your TBR!

Chelsea Pitcher

Bio: Chelsea Pitcher is a native of Portland, OR where she received her BA in English Literature. Fascinated by all things literary, she began gobbling up stories as soon as she could read, and especially enjoys delving into the darker places to see if she can draw out some light.

My Thoughts:

I literally stayed up all night reading This Lie Will Kill You, and it left me with a SERIOUS book hangover. If i had to describe this book using two other concepts it would be 13 Reasons why meets Saw in the absolute BEST way possible. The plot was so twisted i couldn’t even guess the end, and the writing was beautifully simple and made for easy reading. It might have made Mark grumble a little when my reading light was still on at 4am, but for me this book is just a MUST read!

Karen M. McManus

Bio: Karen M. McManus is the #1 New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling author of young adult thriller/mystery novels, including One of Us Is Lying, One of Us Is Next, Two Can Keep a Secret and The Cousins. Her work has been translated into more than 40 languages worldwide. Karen lives in Massachusetts and holds a master's degree in Journalism from Northeastern University, which she mostly uses to draft fake news stories for her novels.

My Thoughts:

If you generally love YA thrillers you need to read Karen M. McManus. She was the writer who got me into the genres with One of us is lying, which had an ending that i totally didnt see coming! I am yet to read One of us is next, but knowing her it will be just as good if not better than the second. Two can keep a secret is also twisty enough to keep you on your toes with just the right quantity of teen drama to keep you turning those pages late into the night!

Conclusion:

To conclude, all these authors are amazing and if you love one, i’d say it’s likely that you’ll also love the others. I am waiting on pins and needles for Chelsea Pitcher’s new release Lies like poison as well as The Lake from Natasha Preston. I can’t wait to see what these authors do next, as i know that any story i pick up by them will warrant the next day spent in full on book hangover mode!

Grab their work and dive in! You won’t be sorry!

Stay Magical,
