Four YA Thriller writers guaranteed to keep you up all night!

I’m one of those readers who will read pretty much any genre. However, having said this, i do go on binges of certain genres quite often. For example i won’t touch a crime thriller novel for like five months and then i’ll read twelve in two weeks. This fall i’ve found myself binging thrillers, but not just any kind, YA thrillers to be exact. I’ve never really read the genre before, but i’ve become obsessed ever since rewatching 13 reasons why in preparation for season 4. (I still haven’t found the mental steel to binge that yet… i mean everyone i know who has watched has been reduced to tears so i’m putting it off…) Anyway, i’ve become a bit obsessed lately with the high school kids caught up in a brutal murder type scene, so i wanted to share some incredible reads i binged with you!

Fool Me Twice: How Margaret Atwood’s long-awaited sequel took my breath away.

We all know that many books, especially those that come to us from well known authors such as Margaret Atwood can sometimes be fairly overhyped. It’s not surprising, I mean, Atwood is considered a literary giant in many regards, with legions of loyal and passionate readers who have high standards when it comes to what they expect from both her work, and her as a figurehead. So, imagine my surprise when recently, Atwood, once again, firmly cemented herself in my mind as absolute author hero.

Literary Travels: Exploring the bookish in Bath, England

Having just returned from an amazing couples weekend away in Bath, also known to the Romans as Aqua Sulis, I have been treated to some seriously unique, beautiful, and inspiring literary locations that not only stock books for sale, but that have been instrumental in the creation and understanding of some of today’s favourite classic stories. From the Roman myths and how Bath has helped us understand the ancient civilisation which worshipped deities such as Minerva and Ares, to the town which inspired the classic works of Jane Austen, Bath is both an intellectual, aesthetic, and historical treat I was not prepared for.

So, I thought in the spirit of everything still being fresh in my mind I would share some of my favourite Literary Locations in the incredible Bath, England with you!

Why Stephanie Garber's Caraval is my latest obsession

As a fantasy author, I have a certain standard when it comes to reading books within my own genre, especially since the majority of endings I see coming a long way in advance. It’s an unfortunate by-product of crafting these kinds of stories, whereby you’re so used to the construction that you can see in books you’d rather not when playing the role of the reader and not the writer.

However, once in a while, a series comes along and takes my freaking breath away. Most recently, that series is Caraval, Legendary, and Finale by Stephanie Garber. The books have been generally well received, but I’d personally like to see them get even more press and more readers because they really are THAT GOOD.

Don’t believe me?

Here are the five reasons why I’m currently freaking obsessed with this series!

5 Books to Read if you loved The Handmaid's Tale

If you know anything about my personal history, you know i studied dystopian fiction in depth throughout both my A Levels and undergraduate degree. As such, dystopian lit, and in particular feminist dystopian lit, is still one of my very favourite genres. I am also IN LOVE with the new Hulu series of The Handmaid’s tale, and am thrilled that Margaret Atwood has not only been heavily involved with the development of seasons two and three which veer away from the first book, but also that she’s announced she will be writing a sequel to the original novel. It’s definitely exciting times to be a lover of this particular genre of stories, so here are five novels to check out if you are waiting not so patiently for the next Handmaid’s tale updates!
